Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Patient Gaming and Technology Specialist (PGTS), you will focus on discovering, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge technology in a pediatric healthcare setting. You will serve as a resource for the Child Life Department, who will use gaming and technology-based interventions to provide therapeutic, recreational, or educational support to pediatric patients and their families.
What will you do in this role:
As a Patient Gaming and Technology Specialist (PGTS), you will oversee gaming and technology-based programs including, but not limited to; virtual reality, augmented reality, therapeutic gaming, and CCTV programming.
You will develop, plan, implement, and evaluate gaming and technology-based patient care interventions.
You will build and maintain partnerships with organizations who wish to support Methodist Children's Hospital through technology and technology-based programming.
You will encourage donor funding by demonstrating innovative uses of cutting-edge technology.
You will promote technological advances of Methodist Children's Hospital through video documentation, live streaming, and hospital special events.
You will assist with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting gaming systems.
You will provide training and create educational materials for staff regarding therapeutic potential of new and old technologies.
You will seek out new technologies and gaming software that would positively benefit patients at Methodist Children's Hospital.
What qualifications you will need:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree in child development, education, computer science, information technology, or related field preferred
Experience working directly with children ages 0-18 years in a professional setting or can demonstrate the ability to appropriately interact and work well with children of all ages.
Strong gaming experience and/or lifelong gamer.
Familiarity with a wide variety of gaming systems and software; VR, AR, XR Technologies, STEAM/Maker technologies
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 120 days of hire.
