Job Title: Machine Operator Job Description

Join our team as a Machine Operator in a structural metal company specializing in large commercial projects. We focus on precision and quality, producing metal parts that contribute to full building kits. As a machine operator, you will play a critical role in our production process, primarily operating a bend machine to shape metals to specified angles.

Responsibilities

Operate various machines with a focus on bend machines to shape metal parts.

Load metal pieces into machines and operate foot pedals and controls to bend metal to specified angles.

Perform first-piece and in-process inspections by checking part dimensions using calipers, tape measures, and squares.

Follow work instructions and adjust machine settings according to material variances.

Track production data either on paper or through data entry.

Essential Skills

Proficient in machine operation, particularly with metal forming and slitter machines.

Ability to read tape measures accurately.

Familiarity with brake press machines, press brakes, CNC machines, and roll forming.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with machine operating in a steel processing facility is a plus.

Work Environment

Our facility operates two shifts and requires wearing Kevlar sleeves, which are provided. The warehouse and production areas are integrated, allowing for efficient movement of products. Expect an industrial work setting that is not climate controlled, resulting in hot conditions during summer. The busiest months are May through October, with the opportunity for overtime ranging from 50 to 60 hours per week.

This is a Contract position based out of New Albany, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.25 - $21.25/hr.
