Amazon is looking for a results-oriented individual to manage and optimize our global data center energy portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of energy contracts and strategies to maximize the performance of our assets. We are looking for a candidate with energy portfolio management experience; understanding of wholesale energy markets (US and global), renewable energy procurement, and large load energy supply strategies; analytical skill set; and experience with formulating and executing plans and projects.
Key job responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of portfolio management strategies to balance risk and financial performance.
Create and monitor financial and risk metrics, and instill controllership in connection with our energy risk management policy.
Provide market subject matter expertise and conduct tariff research in support of structuring and negotiations of power contracts in new and existing global regions.
Measure, analyze and report portfolio performance.
Identify risks and opportunities in the operating and procurement portfolio.
Inform energy supply and procurement strategies using energy market know-how, trends and forecasts.
Support the development of power optimization algorithms, forecasting of financial performance, and building of financial and valuation models.
Develop and execute strategies to improve renewable revenues and reduce data center energy cost in ISO and Non-ISO regions.
Execute transactions related to energy supply and market operations, including for carbon-free energy, BESS, ancillary services and capacity, and other energy supply strategies.

You will work as part of the Energy Procurement Operations (EPO) team. EPO manages energy supply contracts post their execution, provides controllership for financial and operational performance, and ensures our supply portfolio is compliant with external regulations, contract obligations as well as internal policies. You will be a part of the team responsible for managing the portfolio of the world's largest corporate buyer of renewables.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics or other related fields
5+ years of experience in energy markets, utility, renewable industry
5+ years energy portfolio management experience
3+ years of trading wholesale power markets, wholesale power market operations or energy contracting experience in US or global energy markets
3+ years of energy analytics, research, and reporting experience
3+ years managing cross-functional projects, initiatives and/or teams
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related field
7+ years of energy portfolio management experience
5+ years of energy analytics, research, and reporting experience
Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MS Power Query, Python), or experience in building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making
Experience with renewable credit programs, utility scale BESS and renewable project development, power forecasting and scheduling.
Experience managing commercial relationships as well as building relationships and working with industry stakeholders, such as utilities, FERC, regional power planning agencies, renewable project developers, and renewable OEMs
The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
