Description of Job
Built solely for recreation, Sweitzer Lake (https://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/SweitzerLake) fulfills its planned purpose well. Water-ski, swim, picnic, fish, boat, bird watch or just breathe-in the clean air. Sit on the grass, at a picnic site or on the sandy shore and enjoy the day.
A customer service based position that involves inspecting for invasive Zebra/Quagga Mussels, Milfoil or other plant species on boats and personal watercraft at an inspection point on the park. This is an important position for the protection of natural resources from non-native species that threaten wildlife, drinking water/irrigation and all water related outdoor recreation in the State of Colorado. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Staff the park ANS (aquatic nuisance species) inspection station.
Conduct physical boat inspections and boater interviews.
Provide information and assistance to the boating public (distributes brochures, promotes ANS education, educates about State Park regulations, etc.)
Cleaning and light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of ANS inspection areas. Including maintenance of facilities and grounds.
Accurate counting and recording of all boat inspections, either written or by phone application software.
Training in boat inspection methods will be provided.
May document and report visitor complaints.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have reliable transportation to and from work
A background screening may be required for placement in this position
Applicants may be disqualified based on some felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
Strong customer service and communication skills required
Must be enthusiastic, organized, and self-motivated
Must be able to perform, or with reasonable accommodation, the physical requirements as

Able and willing to do data entry on tablets and computers
Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts
Willing to work outside and in inclement weather
Upon hire attend and successfully complete required boat inspector training
Supply and work in appropriate uniform as directed by policy
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Must be at 16 years old or older
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Maintenance will perform physical activities that include, but are not limited to, lifting 50 lbs. or more, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and bending in different positions. ANS will perform physical activities include, but are not limited to, lifting 50 lbs. or more, balancing, walking, standing, stooping, climbing onto/into trailered boats, crawling, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and bending in different positions in order to properly inspect and decontaminate boats and handle equipment.
