Position Description: Back-up for the Power Plant Operator/Electrician in the absence of the Regular Power Plant Operator/Electrician.
Oversee the maintenance of generators and other assets of the Electric Utility. Ensure power distribution lines are in working order. Connect or disconnect electrical service to residential and business properties. Promote safe handling of all equipment including hand and power tools utilized at jobsite and shop. Maintain Boom Truck. Keeps daily log of maintenance activities. Perform monthly meter readings. Maintain fuel inventory and inventory of items needed for maintenance. Report to the Mayor and Council any problems with generation or distribution. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
A basic knowledge of the English language is required to understand the nature and hazards of machinery, equipment and materials, and to follow written and verbal instructions.
A knowledge of electrical services, construction and maintenance machinery, tools and equipment is required.
Skills and Abilities: Applicants must be familiar with diagnosis and repair of generation and power distribution systems.
This position requires the safe use of power and hand tools and other equipment.
The ability to follow directions and take the initiative to perform required tasks without immediate supervision is necessary.
