Job Responsibilities:
Event Management
Planning and execution of events held in the Music Performance Theater coordinating with venue clients and defining event needs
Determine, control, and adjust Front of House event staffing levels
Determine and procure all internal and external services needed for events
Manage and coordinate Front of House event staffing; ensuring a first-rate experience for all patrons
Manage audience arrival and departure experiences, with a focus on accessibility and safety.
Share in manager-on-duty responsibility for event-day logistics coordination and execution of all applicable contracted services.
Responsible for audience safety, proactively ensuring that all proper emergency policies and procedures are applied to and enforced.
Operations/Venue Management
Plan, manage, and carry out event set ups and changeovers
Submit and monitor maintenance work orders
Assist with space scheduling of MPT utilizing EMS system
Create and implement a maintenance plan that encompasses preventive, planned and project maintenance that contributes to the reduction of deferred maintenance
Maintain effective working relationships with venue tenants, essential campus departments, contract administrators, and event organizers to encourage continual and regular use of the venues
Staff Management
Hire, train, supervise, discipline, recognize, evaluate, and schedule student staff
Assist with training student staff to enhance the experience and ensure 5-star customer service for all patrons and clients.
Responsible for monitoring staff morale, ensuring excellent teamwork, and taking appropriate action as needed.

Required Qualifications:
3-5 years of relevant experience in the following:
Event/Meeting/Hospitality planning and management, preferably in the theater, arts or live entertainment field. And/or,
Guest/Patron Services, preferably in the theater, arts or live entertainment field.
Managing and supervising others.
Ability to work extended days, evenings, and weekends on a regular basis.
Portrays the highest level of professionalism in all aspects of daily operations and interactions.
Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with varied constituencies of the RIT community, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni are preferred.
High attention to detail and follow-up, and excellent planning and organization skills.
Able to setup/reset furniture based on event needs. Ability to quickly improvise and effectively diffuse issues as they arise.
Works professionally, ethically and with integrity; uphold the vision, mission and core values of the University.
Intermediate knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite with (preferably Microsoft Visio), Adobe, time keeping programs, and student scheduling platforms.
Competent knowledge base on utilizing technology, including audio-visual equipment, specifically television displays, touch screens and digital signage.
Technically savvy with the ability to understand and guide a broad array of system and process improvements.
Ability to be forward-thinking with how to troubleshoot computers and technological equipment.
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency with Event Management System or equivalent scheduling software application.
Advanced degree in Arts Administration/Management, Hospitality or Event Planning/Management, or a related field.
Experience working with technical theater staff, event producers, and event planners strongly preferred.
Experience in theater front of house operations in a higher education setting.
Familiarity with emerging technologies as they relate to theater operations.
Membership and participation with the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) or International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM).
Department/College Description:
The University Arenas department encompasses the management and operation of the largest and most prominent event assembly venues at RIT. These venues host a diverse range of events, with attendance ranging from 25 to 6,500. The department's responsibilities also include sales, marketing, event programming, agriculture production, ecological conservation, major concert production, and the RIT Box Office.

Job Summary:
The House Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day Front of House activities and the planning and execution of events held in the Music Performance Theater (MPT), the premier theater destination on the RIT campus. The position is responsible for venue conversions and event set-ups while providing direct supervision and training of the student staff led Front of House Managers, Supervisors, and Ushers responsible for all patron services and event set ups. The manager will collaborate closely with the Box Office operation and Concessions operation to ensure seamless and high-quality patron experience, upholding exceptional customer service standards.
