Job Description
Dakota County Technical College seeks a Seasonal Part-Time Dental Assistant College Lab Assistant (CLA) dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. The college is committed to reflecting a diversity of perspective and backgrounds among its administrators, faculty, and staff. This position will provide tutoring, lab, and academic support services (including one-on-one and group instruction) for students enrolled in dental assisting courses at Dakota County Technical College.
This position follows a seasonal schedule (Spring & Summer) each academic year, providing tutoring, lab, and academic support services (including one-on-one and group instruction) for students enrolled in dental assisting courses at Dakota County Technical College.
Work Schedule for Spring & Summer 2026
Spring 2026 Semester (January 12 - May 18, 2026): Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Summer 2026 Semester (May 19 - August 14, 2026): Fridays, 7:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m.
Fall Semester: No scheduled work.
Minimum Qualifications (Must be reflected on resume/application)
Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in dental assisting.
OR
6 months of teaching/tutoring experience in Dental Assisting at the high school level or above
OR
2 years of work experience in Dental Assisting where no degree/certificate/diploma/licensure is required.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and work experience
Preferred Qualification
Teaching and/or tutoring experience, including remedial or basic skill development.
Concurrent part-time employment in dental clinic setting.
Experience with educationally challenged individuals including adult learners, English speakers of other language backgrounds, non-traditional students, and students with disabilities.
Excellent human relations skills.
Ability to take initiative and apply critical thinking when developing effective approaches to instruction.
Organizational skills sufficient to maintain files and documentation for patient medical records.
Additional Requirements
In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
