ABOUT THE POSITIONS AND THE NURSING PROGRAM AT NORMANDALE
The nursing program at Normandale Community College is seeking a full-time faculty member to join the nursing faculty as a simulation lab instructor. The candidate hired for the position will join a dynamic and experienced team of academic nurses and provide instruction in the simulation lab. We champion the faculty development of and welcome applications from clinically experienced nurses new to the academic setting. Our program is a four-semester associate's program that:
prepares graduates for full participation as advocates and future leaders of the health care team, striving to reflect the communities they will serve.

educates students to use the best available evidence in making sound clinical judgments during the provision of safe, high quality, holistic nursing care across the lifespan and the health continuum.

values lifelong learning, reflective nursing practice and insights gained through self-analysis and self-care.
Our program is approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
Normandale Community College is striving to achieve racial equity in educational outcomes. Those hired into this position will be expected to advance this goal through culturally responsive teaching, identifying barriers to success for students of color, and proposing effective solutions to eliminate those barriers.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Coordinate simulations to include selecting and/or creating appropriate scenarios with instructor input, student learning objectives, set-up of equipment, moulage, and assist instructor with debrief
Maintain simulation lab schedule for the nursing department
Maintain and update simulation lab in collaboration with the Dean including but not limited to identifying needed software; lab supply and upgrading equipment needs; troubleshooting issues with equipment/software.
Coordinate with simulation vendors, the Dean, and NCC IT for upgrades and repair of simulation mannequins or equipment.
Collaborate with faculty in the development, implementation, and integration of simulation activities for nursing students.
Collaborate with the Dean for maintaining inventory of needed equipment, organizing equipment, and ordering of supplies.
Conduct evaluation of effectiveness of simulation learning.
Maintain current knowledge in the field of simulation technology and learning theory.
Teach in an inclusive and equitable manner to a diverse group of learners
Maintain ongoing professional development activities that support the college mission, the discipline of nursing, and learner success
Actively engage in college service, department activities, and learner support
Participate in program review and accreditation efforts
Design and deliver instruction that incorporates technologies that advance learning
Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement
Graduate degree with a major in nursing, or Bachelor's degree in nursing and a graduate degree in support of the field of nursing and/or education
Occupational Experience Requirement
Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.
As a registered nurse at the professional level, experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected student and faculty outcomes; including experiential preparation in the areas the faculty will teach.
Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with current registration in Minnesota.
Other Requirement: Compliance with clinical affiliate policies for attending on-site clinical teaching assignments

Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired, or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status.
*These courses shall be waived for individuals who at the time of hire have: a degree in education, or have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework in the specified teaching and learning content areas, or have three years of successful, full-time (or equivalent) secondary, postsecondary, industry, or trade apprenticeship teaching experience in the field for which they are being hired. (Procedure 3.32.1 College Faculty Credentialing, Part 5, Subpart B.2)
** This course shall be waived for individuals who, at the time of hire, have documented evidence of successful completion of equivalent coursework. (Procedure 3.32.1 College Faculty Credentialing, Part 5, Subpart B.3)

Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing and implementing simulations and managing a simulation lab
CHSE Certification or willing to obtain within 2 years
Past involvement with curriculum development in the academic, community, or clinical areas
Experience in learner assessment and evaluation
Evidence of professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Ability to work with a diverse group of learners and diverse patient populations
Experience designing and teaching curricula responsive to the needs of historically underrepresented and/or marginalized learners
Experience using multi-modal approaches and learner-centered pedagogy to meet the needs of first generation, immigrant, and low-income learners
