Responsibilities If selected, you will serve as a Budget Analyst in the United States Attorney's Office (USAO) for the District of Connecticut. You will perform a wide range of administrative and analytical duties for administering the district's financial management program. Typical work assignments will include: Planning and developing budget estimates for the district; Providing technical guidance, advice and assistance to USAO management on federal budget policies and procedures; Ensuring program funding requirements are prioritized, and that funds are efficiently distributed to support missions, objectives, and goals; Providing a wide variety of budgetary reports; Monitoring and tracking obligations and expenditures for the office; Managing the travel charge card program to establish and cancel accounts, and reviewing oversight reports to ensure proper program execution; Conducting cost-benefit analyses and forecasting future resource needs; Assisting in audits or reviews of budget and financial systems; and Presenting budget proposals and reports to leadership. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in federal service. Specialized Experience is defined as administering an agency's or organization's financial management program that includes budgeting, internal controls, accounting, and financial reporting. Examples of specialized experience include: preparing annual administrative budgets and operating plans; providing recommendations and alternative approaches to improve program plans, budget proposals, costs of operations, and program accomplishments; preparing justifications for recommended allocation levels and for additional funds, as necessary; preparing financial documentation for audits and responding to audit questions and findings; and preparing a variety of technical financial and budgetary reports for upper management.
