Senior Attorney - Insurance Defense

Description We are looking for a skilled Senior Attorney with extensive experience in insurance defense and construction defect litigation to join our team in San Diego, California. This Contract to permanent position requires a motivated, detail-oriented individual who can manage cases independently, from initiation to resolution, while maintaining exceptional client relationships. The ideal candidate will be adept at navigating all aspects of the litigation process, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation.

Responsibilities:

Manage insurance defense and construction defect cases from initiation to conclusion, ensuring all deadlines and requirements are met.

Evaluate case details within the first 30-60 days and create strategic litigation budgets.

Draft and respond to discovery requests while overseeing document production.

Conduct and defend depositions, preparing thoroughly to align with case objectives.

Handle all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings, motions, and trial preparation.

Argue law and motion matters effectively, leveraging at least two years of prior civil litigation experience.

Utilize legal case management software to organize case details and maintain accurate billing records.

Meet annual billable hour requirements, typically ranging between 1,500 and 1,850 hours.

Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring clear and effective communication throughout the litigation process. Requirements

Juris Doctorate (JD) degree and active admission to the California state bar.

A minimum of five years of experience in insurance defense and construction defect litigation.

Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently, including evaluations and budgeting.

Expertise in drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, and preparing for trial.

Strong skills in conducting and defending depositions.

Excellent communication and relationship management skills with clients.

Familiarity with legal case management software and billing systems.

Commitment to maintaining high standards of billing and case organization.
