The Senior Market Strategy Lead will own the development and execution of the Consumer Tax Marketing Strategy, ensuring alignment across marketing functional teams and agency partners. This position is pivotal in driving full-funnel integrated campaigns to maximize Assisted, Virtual, and DIY tax return volume for both retention and acquisition.
H&R Block's Consumer Tax business operates in a highly seasonal market, with the core campaign running from December through April. This role requires the ability to flex different skills and strengths throughout the year as we move through discovery, planning, delivery, and performance phases.

Lead the development and execution of the Consumer Tax Marketing Strategy, ensuring alignment across all marketing functions and agency partners
Monitor campaign performance, analyze business results and marketing metrics, and partner with line-of-business stakeholders to identify optimization opportunities
Manage the Consumer Tax Integrated Marketing Pod to ensure timely tactical delivery across all marketing functions
Facilitate workshops with Product Teams to define value propositions, hero products, feature benefits, and offers for the next tax season, culminating in a Product Brief
Lead cross-functional retrospectives to identify improvements in timing, messaging, channel mix, and delivery processes; document stop/start/continue recommendations
Craft a data-driven Market Strategy Brief using inputs from the Product Brief, Retrospectives, and collaboration with Research and Analytics teams
Guide the development of an integrated marketing plan, reviewing functional plans for strategic alignment and providing feedback to ensure synergy across channels
Oversee transition from planning to execution, ensuring message mapping across the entire marketing funnel and providing strategic feedback on marketing deliverables across all functions-including Creative, Paid Media, CRM, Web, Social, etc.-to confirm alignment with the Market Strategy Brief
Facilitate leadership alignment through bi-weekly Product Syncs, monthly CMO/CPO meetings, and Senior Leadership Team updates, ensuring cohesive narratives and productive discussions
Seasonal Focus Areas: January - April | Tax Season Execution
Performance Management:
Monitor campaign performance and business results, assessing marketing metrics to identify optimization opportunities
Partner with Product and line-of-business leaders to activate changes, and rally functional teams (Paid Media, CRM, Web, Social, etc.) to implement real-time adjustments
Delivery Oversight:
Lead weekly Consumer Tax Integrated Marketing Pod meetings to ensure all marketing functions are delivering against timelines and priorities
In-Season Strategic Support:
Maintain alignment on campaign objectives, messaging, and funnel performance to maximize in-season conversion and volume
May - July | Post-Season Analysis & Strategy Development
Post-Season Retrospective:
Lead cross-functional retrospectives-identifying improvements in channel mix, messaging, timing, processes, and operational coordination
Develop "stop / start / continue" recommendations for the next season
Product Brief:
Facilitate workshops with Product Teams to define value propositions, hero products, feature benefits, and planned offers for the upcoming season; produce a clear, strategically grounded Product Brief
Market Strategy Brief:
Using insights from the Product Brief, retrospectives, and collaboration with the Customer Center of Excellence (Research) and DS&A (Analytics), develop a data-driven Market Strategy Brief outlining the strategic foundation for the upcoming season
August - November | Planning & Alignment
Integrated Marketing Plan Development:
Lead the Consumer Tax Marketing Pod to transform the Market Strategy Brief into a cohesive, cross-functional Integrated Marketing Plan
Review functional plans (Creative, Media, CRM, Web, Social, etc.) to ensure strategic alignment, synergy, and message consistency across the full funnel
Plan Delivery:
Support the transition from planning to execution, ensuring message mapping, channel strategy alignment, and consistency in go-to-market materials. Provide strategic feedback on marketing deliverables throughout the process
What you'll bring to the team...
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; MBA preferred
Work Experience:
8+ years of experience in marketing strategy or integrated marketing, ideally within consumer-focused or seasonal businesses
Proven success leading cross-functional teams and managing complex, multi-channel marketing initiatives
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate performance insights into actionable optimization
Exceptional communication, facilitation, and storytelling abilities, especially when aligning senior leadership
Expertise in integrated marketing planning and agency collaboration
Ability to turn insights into actionable strategy and guide cross-functional teams toward shared goals
Skilled at fostering alignment across Product, Marketing, and agency partners
Comfortable navigating fast-paced, high-stakes seasonal environments and driving real-time performance optimizations
Exceptional ability to craft clear, compelling narratives for cross-functional partners and senior executives

Pay Range Information
The pay range for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. This information is posted pursuant to local requirements to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan. Qualifying associates can enroll themselves and/or their eligible dependents in medical and prescription drug coverage; can participate in the H&R Block Retirement Savings Plan (401(k) Plan), the Employee Assistance Program, (virtual) fitness center programs, and the associate discount program; are automatically enrolled in Business Travel Accident Insurance; and receive Associate Tax Prep benefit.
Pay Range
$101,200.00 - $161,900.00/Yr.
