About this Job
The Louisiana State Museum (LSM) is a complex of national landmarks housing thousands of artifacts and work reflecting Louisiana's legacy of historic events and cultural diversity.
This position works is responsible for the general administration of the Wedell-Williams Aviation and Cypress Sawmill Museum and the E.D. Historic Site.
An ideal candidate for this position should possess the following competencies:
Communicating Effectively: The ability to relay information correctly and appropriately to connect people and ideas.
Thinking Critically: The ability to objectively question, analyze, interpret, and evaluate information to form a conclusion.
Using Data: The ability to use relevant and valid data to inform a recommendation for action.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years of experience in administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus two years of experience in administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus one year of experience in administrative services.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Coordinates with the Division Director to make sound decisions regarding programs, maintenance, events, and exhibits.
Helps develop, promote, and implement regular programs at the museum.
Manages the operations of the regional programs outside of the educational realm for Wedell-Williams, fiscal, and budgetary reporting.
Serves as supervisor of the front desk operations and staff.
Assists curator with incoming and outgoing receipts, and object transmits.
Maintains staff schedules. Coordinates local activities of maintenance schedules, assists with curatorial issues, remains abreast of local events, and creates community partnerships, and other operational needs.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: This position is being filled as a probational appointment. Current permanent status state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment.
Work Schedule: This position is a full-time position that reports in-office at the State Museum locates in Patterson. The work schedule is Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM. Work on weekends, overtime, and travel are required of this position.
Location: This is a full-time position located at the Wedell-Williams Aviation and Cypress Sawmill in Patterson, LA.
The Office of the Lieutenant Governor and the Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism are participants in the E-Verify system for identification and employment eligibility purposes.
