What You'll Be Doing:
Primary responsibilities of the Associate, Commercial Real Estate Finance ("CRE Fin"), within Global Credit Finance ("GCF") will be to size, underwrite, onboard, and portfolio manage CRE warehouse ("CRE Repo") and Note on Note facilities and pledged underlying commercial real estate bridge senior loans. The ASO will be part of a global team of dynamic CRE team based in Toronto, New York, and London with this position being based out of New York.
How You'll Succeed:
Size and underwrite CRE bridge loans, compile and analyze market information regarding properties, markets, and underlying borrowers/sponsors being financed
Perform market, including securitization markets CBMS/CRE CLO, and property research and analysis, utilizing 3rd party data providers such as CoStar and/or Moody's Analytics database pulls
Interface with lending counterparties to obtain necessary information and documentation required for loan files
Maintain loan files, applicable checklists, and any items needed from underlying borrower
Review and analyze items received to ensure files are accurately documented to perfect security interest
Assemble data and other information for reports, charts, summaries and related documentation
Prepare facility credit memorandums, loan credit memorandums, asset summaries, and underwriting narratives
Present deals to credit committee
Work with credit team to obtain required credit and other approvals
Liaison with external and internal legal counsels to incorporate business terms into the facility and loan pledge documents and post-closing obligations
Work with operations department on loan closings, monthly remittance, and payoff statements
Monitor loan portfolio and prepare quarterly reports discussing loan credit metrics
Prepare presentations, conduct other projects and duties as assigned, to support senior staff and management
Occasionally conduct site inspections
Attend industry conferences
Work effectively within CIBC's corporate governance practices and policies (Risk Management, Finance, HR, Legal and Compliance) to ensure compliance with CIBC's Governance and Control Framework and regulatory requirements.
Who You Are:
BA/BS degree in finance, economics, real estate, or related discipline preferred
At least 2-3 years of CRE loan sizing, underwriting, credit analysis and lending experience in various property @types
The candidate will either have or be required to obtain requisite FINRA Series 63, 7, and 79 Licenses as appropriate
Ability to work well and maintain high degree of tact, discretion and comfort in interacting with a diverse group of staff, clients and vendors
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Superior analytical and presentation skills
Exceptional ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with discretion
Strong client/customer focus
The ability to work independently with minimal direction, take initiative, and exercise good judgment at all times
Occasional travel required

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $150,000-$185,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee's needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.
