What You Will Do
You will support Production Support Services (PSS) within ALDWP which is responsible for production/operations/manufacturing support for Pit and Detonator production at the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The PSS-4 (Factory Operations and Industrial Engineering) Group Office is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manufacturing Manager - 3 (MM-3) to manage the Industrial Engineering (IE) team. The MM-3 will lead ~23 engineers and project leaders to support work scope in areas related to Continuous Improvement for the Nuclear and Non-Nuclear sections of the Laboratory.The IE MM-3 will directly report to the PSS-4 Group Manager (MM-4) and provide strategic, technical, operational and project management support to develop and execute PSS-4's charter and its business systems, methods and tools utilizing IE principles. The selected candidate will work with cross-functional teams across ALDWP to develop and execute business solution plans to improve and optimize our Production Operations.
As the Manufacturing Manager 3 you will work closely with PSS-4 GL to ensure tactical work is aligned to strategic goals and the lab's current agenda institutional goals. The MM3 will foster a culture that values continuous improvement and organizational learning that results in the prevention of events and provides the controls necessary to promote safe and secure work. The MM3 will serve as first-line manager and assist in the overall management of a cohesive, high-performing team. The MM3 will assist in supporting and promoting the organization's vision, goals and strategies. Understand and implement Integrated Safety Management (ISM) line management responsibilities for their organization including but not limited to integrating safety into every task, pausing/stopping work, modeling exemplary behavior, fostering open communication, engaging workers in the field, rewarding positive behavior and addressing deficiencies through accountability. Integrated Safety Management (means worker health and safety, environment, security, and quality) is a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees and managers. Maintains an in-depth knowledge and understanding of facility operational requirements and works with the group leader to ensure compliance, safety, security, quality and conduct of operations, engineering, maintenance and training in the performance of work.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Strong Leadership: Demonstrated record of successful technical leadership and proven ability in supervising, resolving conflicts, administering discipline, mentoring, team building, managing staff requirements, motivating employees, and developing personnel such as students and/or early career scientists and engineers.
Strong Knowledge and Expertise: Demonstrated experience developing work scope, schedules, and budgets; coordinating and managing the tactical execution of work; and tracking and reporting progress. Proven ability to operate effectively in a manufacturing environment while ensuring compliance with facility requirements and Conduct of Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance standards. Strong analytical skills, including the application of methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma to drive operational and quality process improvements.
Strong Communication: Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively as a leader with a team and across functional areas. Proven effectiveness in interactions, presentations, briefings, and publications, and in working collaboratively with personnel and customers at all levels.
Accountability: Experience working with confidential or proprietary information, classified documents or sensitive information.
Data Knowledge: Experience in managing a team working on data management, architecture, and data analysis projects. Ability to interpret and understand complex information, help develop and drive data-driven solutions, and ensure effective data governance to support strategic decision-making.
Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships across teams and functions, fostering a cooperative environment to achieve organizational goals.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Extensive experience developing and executing work packages, managing business operations, and overseeing resource planning, acquisition, and allocation, including the creation of resource-loaded schedules and responsible financial stewardship.
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, technicians, and professional staff in a technical or manufacturing environment, applying systems or industrial engineering tools to drive process improvements.
Proven ability to identify, secure, and manage resources needed to meet organizational deliverables, scope, and schedule.
Strong background in managing core business operations, including finance, human resources, procurement, and related administrative functions.
Strong background in project and program management, including defining objectives, aligning work scopes with organizational goals, and tracking and reporting progress.
Demonstrated experience executing work in full compliance with facility requirements, including nuclear Hazard Category facilities, safety authorization basis, and Conduct of Operations standards.
DOE Q Clearance and HRP Certification highly desirable
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th.
