Who We Are
We're hiring a Master Tradesperson 3 (electrician) to join our team at HII Mission Technologies. You'll be part of the only shipyard in the nation that performs the Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) on nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.
In this critical mid-life maintenance, we refuel nuclear reactors, overhaul machinery, and modernize warfare systems. Your work will directly support the Aircraft Carrier Climate Improvement Team (ACCCIT) by repairing electrical systems for shipboard ventilation, helping to ensure these carriers have the improved capabilities they need for their remaining 25 years of service.

What You Will Do
Able to work within trades team on active class surface ships to assist with alterations and installations for fleet modernization.
Perform a variety of maintenance and technical support on shipboard systems, integrated systems, and related equipment/software onboard Aircraft Carriers.
Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunction to eliminate problems in minimum time.
Apply understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments.
Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
Develop and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
Schedule, report and brief customers and senior management.
Perform duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignment.
What You Must Have
High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience. Prefer technical/professional certifications. Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
Candidate must have knowledge and experience with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs of electrical systems and its associated equipment.
Candidate must be able to read electrical drawings and schematics.
Candidate must be able to follow and enforce safety procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD confidential security clearance and maintain clearance level throughout employment.
Candidate must be able to obtain base access credentials within 60 days of start date and maintain credentials throughout employment.
Candidate must be able to provide hand tools per trade designation.
Bonus Points For Having!
Candidates who have graduated from and/or completed a vocational school, apprenticeship program or a skilled trades certificate program are preferred.
Candidate with a current or active DoD clearance preferred.
OSHA 10 Maritime Certification
Knowledge of Navy Tag Out program, NSTM 300, and 3M manual
Motor Controller Experience
Understanding of ventilation and associated components.
Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
