Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina. In this Contract-to-permanent position, you will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting the organization's overall financial health. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and record journal entries in alignment with established accounting principles and company policies.

Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and subsidiary ledgers on a regular basis to ensure accuracy.

Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in a timely and precise manner.

Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all deadlines are met.

Monitor and manage revenues and expenditures for federal, state, and private grants, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and agreements.

Maintain comprehensive documentation to support grant reimbursements and prepare financial reports for grant-related activities.

Review and process vendor invoices and employee reimbursements for proper coding and compliance.

Support accounts payable and receivable functions, including maintaining vendor files and reconciling patient accounts and payments.

Assist in preparing audit schedules and ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards and grant requirements.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records and transactions to ensure accuracy and accountability. Requirements - Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting or a related field.

Strong knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return processes.

Proficiency in preparing journal entries and maintaining the general ledger.

Familiarity with federal grant regulations and Uniform Guidance requirements is preferred.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.
