At the Department of Public Safety - Office of Management and Finance(DPS-OMF), our mission is to provide effective management and support services in an efficient and professional manner to all agencies within the Department of Public Safety - Public Safety Services and to public and private entities.
We're looking for anAccountant Manager 1within theFinancial Services section atDPS-OMF.
Minimum Qualifications
Seven years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Reviews and approves general and subsidiary ledger entries for programmatic budgeting expenditures and revenues for one or more DPS/Public Safety Services agencies in a progressively complex role as a team professional accountant.
Responsible for the preparation, review, analyzation, and approval of complex monthly, quarterly, and annual fiscal reports, including the Annual Financial Reports (AFR's), Census Reports, and certain Budget reports, and other specialized reports required for one or more DPS/Public Safety Services agencies.
Serves as assistant fiscal manager for multiple State agencies with highly complex programs and cash management that includes dozens of Means of Finance to include intrinsic cash reporting and compliance requirements at both the State and Federal levels.

Appointment Type:This is a promotional opportunity for permanent DPS/OMF Financial Services employees only
Career Progression:This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule:Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
Location:This vacancy is located in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The bi-weekly rate for this position is as follows:
