Job Title: Senior Accounting SpecialistJob Description

This position involves leading the Accounts Payable operations for both U.S. and international domains, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing. You will collaborate closely with the CFO to refine and enhance accounting processes and play a pivotal role in managing international banking tasks, ensuring compliance with global regulations. Additionally, you will contribute to job costing, prepare financial reports for ongoing projects, assist with Accounts Receivable functions, and ensure adherence to federal contract guidelines, GAAP, and international standards.

Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of Accounts Payable for U.S. and international operations, ensuring accurate and timely payments.

Collaborate with the CFO to review and improve accounting processes.

Manage international banking tasks, including setting up and maintaining overseas accounts and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Contribute to job costing and prepare financial reports for multiple ongoing projects.

Assist with Accounts Receivable functions, including billing, collections, and reconciling customer accounts.

Ensure all accounting practices meet federal contract guidelines, GAAP, and international standards.

Participate in closing the books each month and year, including reconciliations and report preparation.

Identify opportunities to update accounting systems and streamline data management.

Partner with project managers and leadership to provide financial insights and accurate cost information.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in Accounts Payable and project accounting.

Experience in a project-based environment such as construction, engineering, architecture, or manufacturing.

Operational and hands-on experience in cost accounting.

Expertise in using Sage accounting software, particularly Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate or Sage 100 Contractor.

Strong knowledge of job costing and project-based accounting.

Experience managing finances across multiple entities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA certification is a plus.

8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within construction or general contracting.

Strong background in international banking, including opening and managing accounts abroad.

Success in improving accounting processes and updating financial systems.

Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.

Work Environment

The work environment offers flexibility with office hours from 7 am to 6 pm, typically starting between 8 am and 9 am and ending between 4 pm and 5 pm. The team includes the CFO, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll functions, fostering a collaborative, growth-focused atmosphere. Employees have the opportunity to play a key role in modernizing accounting operations and supporting complex federal and overseas construction missions.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hyattsville, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $45.67/hr.
