Summary You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MGR in the SAFETY DIVISION of HQ US MARINE CORPS. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption. Responsibilities You will report to the Director, USMC, Safety Division. You will assign responsibilities in terms of broadly stated objectives and functions. You will complete technically authoritative work. You will provide leadership and direction for the overall Marine Corps Safety Program. You will ensure that milestones set forth are accomplished in a just and timely manner. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Participating in policy and decision making processes to include providing guidance to executives or senior leaders; AND planning, developing policy, directing, exercising staff supervision, OR evaluating a safety program for a large organization or enterprise. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education In addition, you will be required to meet the following requirements: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
