Biomed Manager Boulder Community Health, Boulder, CO 80303 $46.66 - $70.00 an hour - Full-Time Days, 40 hours per week Boulder Community Health is seeking a Biomed Manager to oversee the overall service and support of the Biomedical Equipment Management Program. This role includes managing day-to-day Biomedical Engineering Services, recommending, testing, and deploying new equipment, performing project management duties, maintaining the operational budget, and promoting staff education. The manager also handles contract management and works closely with clinical departments, contracted vendors, and Biomedical Engineering staff to ensure clinical equipment meets specified standards. In addition, the position supervises the Biomedical Engineering Technicians, oversees scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, and maintains equipment records. Associated degree in related field or equivalent experience acceptable at Director's discretion. -Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician, (BMET) required within 12 months of hire. -Valid Colorado driver's license required. -Minimum of seven years of progressively complex (troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, design and modification) hospital-based biomedical equipment technician (BMET) experience required. -Experience in management within a hospital setting is preferred Responsibilities The Biomed Manager leads the Biomedical Engineering team and oversees the safe, compliant, and efficient management of clinical equipment across the organization. Key responsibilities include: - Team Leadership & Development o Supervise Biomedical Engineering Technicians, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, coaching, and ongoing staff development. o Maintain up-to-date job descriptions and ensure timely completion of performance appraisals. o Oversee scheduling, workload distribution, and all equipment service activities. - Biomedical Equipment Management o Direct the Biomedical Equipment Management Program to ensure full compliance with TJC, Environment of Care (EOC), and state/local regulatory standards. o Lead preventive maintenance programs, coordinate equipment repairs, and recommend replacements or upgrades as needed. o Maintain appropriate documentation and ensure effective application of all maintenance procedures. - Operational & Financial Oversight o Manage and negotiate service contracts for hospital departments. o Oversee departmental budgets, capital planning, inventory, and resource allocation. o Track productivity trends, analyze performance, and implement corrective actions when necessary. o Maintain an inventory of parts, supplies, and backup equipment to minimize downtime and disruption to patient care. - Cross-Department Collaboration o Partner with clinical departments and hospital leadership to prioritize equipment needs, coordinate schedules, and plan work assignments. o Engage external specialty contractors when appropriate. -Quality Assurance & Strategic Planning o Maintain a current inventory of biomedical equipment and develop plans for repairs, replacements, and preventive maintenance. o Lead quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives for the Biomedical Equipment Management Program. o Communicate and follow up on identified deficiencies to ensure continuous improvement.
