As a Physical Security Specialist, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our company's people, assets, and infrastructure that power the communities we serve. In this position, you will support the design, implementation, and oversight of security measures that protect substations, facilities, and operational sites from potential threats and vulnerabilities. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will help ensure compliance with industry standards, enhance resilience, and maintain a secure environment essential to delivering reliable energy to our customers.
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for protecting LES employees, customers, and assets by implementing and managing security systems and conducting risk assessments. Provides oversight of contracted security services and performs security assessments in compliance with NERC/CIP standards. Serves as a main point of contact for all physical security related matters. Specific responsibilities include ensuring organizational compliance with applicable regulations, planning and execution of training associated with physical security, installing and maintaining access control and security system hardware, leading threat assessments, integrating physical security systems with enterprise frameworks, and overseeing advanced security technologies. Assists with the development and implementation of departmental programs and procedures. Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND CORE COMPETENCIES
Coordinates physical security programs with organizational stakeholders and leadership.
Conducts comprehensive risk assessments to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
Assists in developing and coordinating emergency response plans.
Monitors emerging physical security threats and develops strategic plans to address potential vulnerabilities .
Develops and proposes physical security system upgrades, to enhance operational efficiency and security.
Identifies and resolves access control and surveillance operational issues through troubleshooting, installation, programming or service provider coordination.
Oversees vendor installation/commissioning of security-related technologies.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Experience with physical security systems such as access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection and emergency response tools.
Ability to analyze operational requirements, conduct risk assessments, and solve problems related to physical security through creation of actionable strategies.
Leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
Strong communication skills are necessary for reporting, training, and collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders.
Ability to conduct detailed risk assessments and develop actionable security strategies.
Computer skills including Microsoft Office 365, SAP, and the ability to operate Physical Security Information Management software.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree or technical degree in area of assignment, and
Minimum of two years of related experience in physical security operations or related area.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license.
Incident Command System (ICS) Series 100, 200, 700, & 800 certifications required or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
Experience in critical infrastructure protection, regulated environment, three or more years preferred.
Experience in physical security or law enforcement, 5+ years preferred.
Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) designation preferred.
