Division: Hearings District 5
Location: Baton Rouge, LA
Under general supervision, theAdministrative Assistant 1/2/3/4provides journeyman clerical and administrative support to the Workers' Compensation Judge. Exercises much discretion and independent judgment. Coordinates the activity of other clerical personnel when scheduling cases for hearing or trial on the court's docket.
TheOffice of Workers' Compensation Administration (OWCA)in Louisiana oversees the enforcement and administration of workers' compensation laws, aiming to support early return-to-work efforts and improve workplace safety. We do not process individual workers' compensation claims or issue benefit payments.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Conducts scheduling, pre-trial, and telephone status conferences.
Exercises independent judgment and initiative to determine whether the workers' compensation case is ready for trial or if additional conferences are needed, or may determine that some other form of appropriate action is needed.
Coordinates all activities associated with the judge's docket, including but not necessarily limited to scheduling of trials, hearings, and conferences.
Types decisions, judgments, notices of judgments, certified mail and envelopes, hearings reports, and reports of agreements utilizing a personal computer. Proofreads and corrects to finished form.
Keys in information needed to update automated hearings system files as action is taken or the process required.
Communicates via telephone, in person, and in writing all information relating to the hearings docket. Explains legal and office requirements to parties requesting information regarding the hearings docket.
Relieves the Judge of minor administrative and legal matters and independently responds to matters that do not require the Judge's immediate attention
May sign the judge's name to routine correspondence and forms.
Assembles files to be called for trials. Prepares daily and weekly hearings agenda. Schedules court reporter and other hearings contract personnel as required.
May keep leave records, act as a receptionist, and perform other clerical duties as needed.
