Summary:

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support our Financial Reporting and Accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong business background, university-level accounting coursework, and relevant professional experience in business management or accounting. This is a hybrid role with a flexible schedule based in Northern Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in advancing their accounting career and pursuing a professional accounting degree or certification.

What You Will Do:

Assist with day-to-day accounting activities, including account reconciliations and journal entries.

Support the preparation of timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure data accuracy.

Provide administrative and organizational support to financial reporting, labor, and other accounting teams.

Assist with audits, compliance, and other special projects as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.

Strong organizational and time-management skills with keen attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills; professional, clear and well-spoken.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Requirements

Completion of university-level accounting coursework

Work experience in business management or accounting-related functions.

Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.

High degree of initiative and willingness to work extended hours during busy periods.

Interest in pursuing a formal accounting degree, CPA or related certification.
