Perennial Environmental Services is actively seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to manage and process billing operations while overseeing accounts payable activities. Perennial is a rapidly growing environmental consulting firm that provides ecological and cultural resource services to a variety of clients throughout the country, primarily to the oil and gas industry.

The candidate should have previous experience working in a highly dynamic and fast-paced office setting, be adept at professional communication, highly organized, and quick to learn new technical skills related to the environmental industry. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Tasks would include but are not limited to the following:

Manage and process full-cycle billing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

Record and apply cash receipts to customer accounts accurately and promptly

Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments

Resolve billing and payment discrepancies and respond to client/vendor inquiries

Oversee accounts payable, including vendor invoice processing, payment scheduling, and reconciliation

Assist with month- and year-end close processes, including accruals and adjustments

Maintain organized financial documentation and support audit preparation

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency

Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify trends, variances or areas for improvement

Support the preparation of internal and external financial reports, assist with audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance, or related field

A minimum of 3 years experience in billing, accounts payable, or general accounting

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP)

Experience with Deltek VantagePoint is a plus

Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Strong communication and problem-solving skills
