Position Summary

The Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. This role is assigned to a large construction project, working closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.

Position Details

Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.

Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.

Processes project accounts payable and subcontracts payable.

Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s

Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through jobs cost tracking reports.

Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.

Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project-related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent experience

?3-5 years' of project accounting experience preferred

?Strong accounting knowledge

?Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail

?Strong written and verbal communication skills

?Strong customer service skills

?Strong analytical skills

?Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task

?Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure

?Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion

?Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. required
