Research Associate, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering
The Colorado School of Mines Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering invites applications for a post-doctoral researcher in the field of Biomedical Engineering.
This position is funded through a National Institutes of Health grant focused on the development of aerosolized microrobots capable of delivering chemotherapeutic drugs to the lungs for the treatment of lung cancer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the in vitro aspects of this grant including the development of permanent magnet-based instrumentation capable of manipulating colloidal swarms in 3D lung mimics. Associated responsibilities will includementoring undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
We seek outstanding applicants who possess a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. In addition, the successful applicant must have experience in the development of biomedical instrumentation for the manipulation of in vivo (micro)roboticsystems. We are especially interested in candidates with experience working collaboratively as responsibilities will include partnering with faculty and students at the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz medical campus who will perform analogous experiments on in vivo models.
The position will be located in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO. The successful candidate will be offered a 12 monthfull-time position with the expectation that the appointment will be renewed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform research in the use of magnetic fields for the manipulation of colloidal swarms
Develop in vitro models that mimicking mouse and human lung
Mentor students working on synergistic projects
Analyze and publish results
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. In addition, the successful applicant must have experience in the development of biomedical instrumentation for the manipulation of in vivo (micro)robotic systems.

TOTAL REWARDS
$60,000 - $70,000 annual salary rate
