Summary The incumbent is responsible for the total management, planning and direction of Environmental Service. Responsibilities Plans, organizes, staffs, controls, evaluates, and directs the environmental management functions for the entirety of the organization. Builds interdisciplinary teams by empowering teams with authority, responsibility and accountability to achieve maximum success. Ongoing programs must be continually monitored and optimized to insure the best utilization of staffing, funds and equipment. Responsible for directing efforts to meet regulatory goals for reducing solid waste disposal. Formulates training programs, training and technical manuals, which covers the use and upkeep of equipment and supplies to ensure adherence to established standards, procedures and instructions. Maintains the various contracts and tracks waste management, and recycling, maintains records and acts as point of contact for all environmental contracting issues. Establish linen stocking quotas for the inpatient wards and other linen distribution points Responsible for integrating short, intermediate, and long-range planning that meet the changing environmental management dynamics. Formulates program policy, plans, organizes, directs, staffs, budgets, and coordinates a comprehensive Environmental Management Service. Responsible for the pest management program to include planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating the effectiveness of the program. Develops efficient techniques necessary for tailoring manpower requirements with workload characteristics in the laundry plant. Selects and specifies which new equipment and supplies will be purchased after thorough review of required objectives, existing constraints or problem situation, available staffing, and budget and space resources. Manages contracts with private janitorial, pest control, and data privacy companies to augment in-house staff operations. Develops standards for the handling of toxic, and highly contagious bio-hazardous waste and sharps to assure the Medical Center complies with Local, State and Federal regulations. Develops and maintains standards for cleanliness and sanitation that are fitted to the particular needs and problems of the medical center. Enforces environmental regulations for compliance involving coordination with all physical locations and staff and to include the reduction of overall cost by ensuring proper disposal of all @types of waste (biohazardous, medical, and general) in the most effective and efficient method. Manages waste management through the collection, removal, and control of all recyclables and wastes generated in the health care facility are essential for ensuring a clean, aesthetically pleasing, and odor-free environment. Recommends policies, procedures and products relative to the infection control responsibilities of the organization.
