Responsibilities:
Provide effective and safe resident/patient care to contribute to thepatient'soverall care plan.Prepares, administers and charts routine and emergency medication and treatment to contribute to the patient's overall care plan.Performs safety and infection control procedures to ensure a safe and clean environment forpatientsand staff. Follows OSHA bloodborne pathogens standards.Maintain adequate stock of supplies and equipment.Reports all accidents promptly, investigates causes of accidents, and takes necessary steps to correct unsafe conditions. Ensure that all nursing services personnel are performing their respective duties in accordance with written policies, procedures and manuals. Direct and superviseday-to day functions of LPNs and CNAs in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing the facility.
Physical Requirements:
Walking,reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing and puffing, fine hand coordination, standing for extended periods of time,ability to communicate with residents, personnel and consultants, ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to read and write in English.Must be able to lift 5-50 pounds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
This position requires a current RN license in good standingwith the State of North Dakota;requires the visual and auditory ability to assess resident/patient conditions to administer effective care using standard nurse practices; must have the ability to verbally communicate and problem solve effectively with residents, staff, physicians, and families; must have the ability to remain calm under stress; must have the manual dexterity to perform such functions as administering injections, inserting catheters, administering IV solution, pushing a medication cart, and performing CPR (which requires recertification every two years); must have the physical agility to respond in a quick manner and in accordance with established facility practice regarding unexpected residentsafety needs; must have the ability to complete forms and records; and may be required to assist with lifting and transferring of residents;must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork;must have ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
