Description We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Peabody, Massachusetts. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the organization's financial operations while working on a variety of tasks.

Responsibilities:

Organize and update accounting records to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Bring financial accounts up to date and resolve any discrepancies.

Maintain vendor records and files, ensuring all data is current.

Perform account reconciliations, including bank accounts and balance sheets.

Prepare and update journal entries to reflect accurate financial information.

Manage the general ledger and ensure proper classification of transactions.

Process transactional accounting activities with efficiency and precision.

Assist with month-end closing procedures to ensure timely reporting.

Handle ad hoc accounting projects as needed to support the team. Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, including transactional accounting.

Proficiency in preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts.

Strong skills in account reconciliation, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations.

Experience with month-end close procedures and related activities.

Ability to manage vendor records and files with attention to detail.

Knowledge of accounting principles and best practices.

Experience with ERP system: Oracle, SAP, NetSuite and/or Great Plains

Excellent organizational and analytical skills
