Summary The Laundry Machine Operator position is located in the Housekeeping -Laundry Service and reports to the Laundry Work Leader/Laundry Supervisor. This position is responsible for the operation of commercial @type washers, extractors, tumblers, conditioners and machines used for the sorting, washing, drying, pressing and inspecting of linens and other articles. Responsibilities Duties include but are not limited to: Operate commercial-@type laundry washers, extractors, tumblers or conditioners. Make minor repairs on textiles with hot patch machine. Report the need for equipment maintenance. Knowledge of loading capacities of tumblers, extractors, conditioners. Balance loads by distributing loads evenly. Move and control heavy equipment. Maintain work area and equipment within sanitary standards to include empty waste cans, sweeping, mopping, washing windows, walls, furniture and fixtures when needed. Use standard procedures to set timer per @type and weight of load to keep within production schedules. Keep written records of the work processed. Read and comprehend printed instructions for chemical safety. Follow set procedures to control machines and balance of loads. Promotion Potential: There is no Promotional Potential. Lifting and carrying items up to 50lbs (and over with assist). Working Conditions: Work is performed inside a laundry facility with higher than normal temperatures, high humidity and prolonged exposure to loud noises. May be exposed to high pressure steam, fast moving machinery. and wet, slippery floors.
