Role Summary
The Power & Recovery Manaufacturing Associate Manager front-line leader is crucial to the shift operation and productivity of the Power & Recovery Department. The successful candidate will understand and align business operations and Power responsibilities as he/she executes their role to exceed expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial, and operational objectives.
This roleis responsible for leadership of approximately 20+ unionized hourly shift employees in the daily production of the Power & Recovery operation. The incumbent will oversee the measurement systems to ensure continued improvement in steam and electrical power generation, boiler operations, and water and waste handling. This role reports to the Superintendent-Power & Recovery.
Duties & Responsibilities ( include but are not limited to the following) :
Utilize and refine standard work systems to effect sustainable positive results in safety, environmental, people, housekeeping, quality, cost, and performance.
Demonstrate safety as a core value and foster a safe work culture by promoting and enforcing behavioral based safety practices and standards
Maintain environmental compliance
Develop and manage hourly shift employees through communication of business strategy, mentorship, coaching and accountability methods
Optimize recovery boiler and power boiler operation as well as power generation to maximize pulp production and reduce downtime and costs
Collaborates with all levels of management personnel to establish production and quality control standards.
Monitor and manage Key Process Indicators
Promote team concept with production crews to assure continuity in reaching common production goals
Manage continuous improvement projects for area of responsibility
Continually improve standard work systems such as trouble cause corrections, standard operating procedures, startup/shutdown checklists, and centerlines
Maintain effective communications and working relationships with Operations Departments, Maintenance, Safety, IT, Environmental, Human Resources, Engineering, Purchasing and Suppliers,
Act as Incident Commander for Mill Emergency Response Team
Collaborate with Department Learning Leaders to ensuretraining program for department personnel is current and appropriate training levels are met
Cultivating Crew-led Safety and Cre-led Training across the department/crew
Other duties as assigned
Required Characteristics
Bachelor s Degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering or related technical field and a minimum five (5) years of experience working with power and/or recovery processes
OR
Five (5) years ofyears of experience in power and recovery processes and three (3) years of supervisory experience in manufacturing
Demonstrated knowledge of power and recovery operations
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Demonstrated troubleshooting skills of the pulping process
Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
Proven experience with reliability and continuous improvement principles and techniques
Solid oral and written communication skills
Possess an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, with a situational (servant, directive, collaborative) leadership approach to managing the team
Available to provide coverage on holiday, off-days, weekends and after-hours
Must be able to pass a background check, drug screening and reference check
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Desired Characteristics
Experience within a unionized environment

Knowledge Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma
Experience and knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM)

Applicants will be accepted on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline. This role is incentive plan eligible. Additional information will be shared during the hiring process. Each candidate's compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, knowledge, skills, past experience, job duties, geography, and business need, among other things.
Pay Range: $94,875 - $126,500
