Ag Equipment Operator is required to work with many different @types of farm machinery for soil preparation, crop planting, harvesting and grain processing, and chemical application. Worker will required to drive and control farm equipment to till soil, seed/plant, fertilize, spray pesticides, cultivate and harvest small grain crops; and required maintain and make minor repairs on the equipment they operate. Mechanical skills and experience are required to drive a John Deere Green Star GPS and operate other farm equipment such as a Case air drill and scales in grain cart. The worker is also required to attach farm implements, such as plow, disc, sprayer, or harvester, to tractor, using bolts and mechanic's hand tools; load and unload grain truck manually or using conveyors, hand truck, forklift, or transfer auger; weigh grain-filled containers and record weights; and clean out grain bins. Minimal fencing of existing fence lines will be required along with facility and grounds maintenance. To work as an agriculture equipment operator requires physical coordination, decision-making ability, mechanical aptitude and driving skills. The job entails working outdoors in all @types of weather (extreme heat, cold, wind, dust, rain and snow). Worker must crouch, bend, lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds.
Farm Equipment Operator: Long/odd hours with split shifts required during harvest.
Feb. 1 - end of March: Drive truck/haul grain, equipment maintenance/cleaning, soil preparation: 50 - 60 hrs/week, Mon. - Sat. Avg. 8am - 6pm.
April - May: Spring seeding, spray pesticides; equipment cleaning /maintenance; 60 - 70 hrs/week, Mon. - Sat. Avg. 7am - 6pm.
June: Spray pesticides, clean out grain bins, haul water, fencing: 50 - 60 hrs/week, Mon. - Sat. Avg. 6am - 8pm.
July - Oct.31 Harvest: Drive truck, operate scales in grain cart, maintenance: 80 - 100 hrs/week, Mon. - Sat. Avg. 7am - 10pm
Equipment cleaning/maintenance, haul grain: 40 - 50 hrs/week, Mon. - Sat. Avg. 8am - 6pm.
Increased wages and bonus may be possible depending on experience.
Housing and Workers Compensation insurance will be provided at no charge to the workers. Social security / Medicaid Taxes and Federal / State taxes will be withheld from U.S. Worker's paychecks. Voluntary withholdings will be deducted from foreign workers' paychecks at their request. Employer will make the following deductions when applicable: FICA, loans and advances, long-distance telephone charges the reasonable repair or replacement cost of willful or negligent damage to housing, tools and equipment caused by the worker (other than normal wear and tear). Worker who quit or are terminated for cause prior to completing 50% of the contract will be required to reimburse the employer for the full amounts of advanced and/or reimbursed transportation and subsistence. Level II wage rate is $18.48 with a housing deduction of $1.80 / hour for H2-A employees for a total wage of $16.68. Increase pay and bonus may be possible depending on experience.
