DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position requires a skilled and certified mechanic with a strong background in both automotive and heavy machinery. The individual will be responsible for conducting a variety of analytical assessments, as well as performing preventive maintenance and repair tasks on a diverse range of equipment, including construction machinery, trucks, automobiles, and hand tools. A significant aspect of this role involves working with both gasoline and diesel engines, with an emphasis on ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The mechanic will need to apply their technical knowledge to troubleshoot issues, implement effective maintenance strategies, and execute repairs that enhance the longevity and functionality of the equipment. This multifaceted role demands not only mechanical expertise but also a commitment to safety and efficiency in all operations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment.
Work hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Shifts may vary seasonally/due to weather and/or based on operational needs
Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $55,492.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed.
Certain positions require possession of an active Pennsylvania Class B Commercial Driver's License with Manual Transmission Restriction (E) removed, or equivalent.
Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations on the first day of work.
Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
Certain positions may require employees to possess a valid Pennsylvania Class 1, 4, or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment.
This position will require employees to pass the Department of Transportation's New Mechanic Training course during the probationary period.
