What You Will Do
As a vital member of the Personnel Assurance group, reporting to the Substance Abuse Team Leader, you will serve as a vital function for the Laboratory's Workplace Substance Abuse Program. Many of the activities at the Laboratory involve working with classified information and some specialized duties that require HRP certification to conduct certain @types of activities. You will use your skillset to help workers obtain and maintain their access authorization or HRP certification from the Department of Energy by using various databases to complete the required steps. You will be part of a multi-team effort in a fast-paced environment where your attention to detail and ability to manage your time is essential. Your primary job will be to coordinate drug and/or alcohol tests via telephone.
Personnel Assurance is one of the busiest groups at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Your ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees and managers will be a major part of obtaining success in this position.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated experience coordinating schedules and calendar management.
Demonstrated experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternatives, and recommending solutions on problems affecting security and safeguards.
Proven competence to provide professional customer service while under pressure of multiple deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities.
Demonstrated experience in effectively prioritizing assigned tasks and assuming responsibility for accomplishing the work.
Demonstrated experience working with high volumes of customers with great attention to detail and protection of PII as part of a team and independently.
Ability to effectively interface and integrate at all levels and broad knowledge of the Laboratory mission, organizations, programs, policies, and procedures.
Education/Experience: Position requires a bachelor's degree in business, Management, or Security related field and 2 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Excellent organizational skills for project planning, execution, and management.
Demonstrated experience participating in audits and self-assessments.
Previous experience performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.
Knowledge of the Laboratory's security and safeguards policies, practices, and procedures and
Knowledge of the Laboratory's computer and information security policies practices, and procedures
Active Q clearance.
Work Environment: This position will be onsite and work location is Los Alamos; however, you may be required to work in Santa Fe as needed.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM & Santa Fe, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
