Job Summary:

Hawai'i Pacific University (HPU) is a private, non-profit institution of approximately 3,500 undergraduate and 800 graduate students. Founded in 1965, it is Hawaii's largest private university with its core campus in the heart of Honolulu's business district.

Hawai`i Pacific University, Graduate College of Health Sciences is seeking candidates who are licensed occupational therapists for adjunct faculty positions for its hybrid Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program. Individuals with expertise across all areas of occupational therapy practice areas will be considered.

This accelerated two-year OTD program is a blend of online and on-campus activities that allows adjunct faculty members to live remote to the HPU campus. However, OTD adjunct faculty members must be able to travel and stay in Honolulu during the duration of the labs assigned. On-site labs are blocked by course and range from 3-6 days in length. Adjunct faculty who support more than one lab may be required to be on-site for up to 2-weeks at a time. Priority will be given to qualified candidates who live in Hawai`i. Competitive compensation is provided for course-based appointments. All approved travel-related expenses will be covered by HPU in accordance with HPU's Travel Policy.

Compensation:

$1,500 per credit hour ($4,500 per 3 credit course)

This is a part-time exempt Adjunct Instructor position.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Occupational therapy licensed or eligible for licensure in Hawai`i or the state of residence.

Desired Qualifications:

Earned Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree (OTD) or terminal doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, etc) from an accredited university.

Specialist Certification.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Other Qualifications:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.

Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break, if necessary.

Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.

Upon hire, candidate must have reliable personal transportation to facilitate travel between to all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position. This includes access to an airport with regular flights to Honolulu, if applicable.

Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends.

Successful candidates will be able to work in an environment that utilizes excellent time and stress management skills.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:

Teaching (95%) The faculty member holds an adjunct appointment and has responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the academic program. This individual demonstrates competence in teaching and implementing strategies for student success.

Teaching is the primary responsibility of Adjunct Faculty. The functions of adjunct faculty may include some or all of the following depending on the terms of the appointment:

Assist the primary and/or secondary course instructor in all course-related activities as directed by the primary and/or secondary course instructor.

Develop a syllabus of course activities that meet the requirements of the course description or program chair, establish appropriate student learning outcomes, and provide for
