Job Summary
The Account Manager is responsible for managing and expanding West's business within the Industry Partners segment, including Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs) and other key pharmaceutical collaborators. The position drives growth by promoting West's value-added containment and delivery solutions for injectable drug products, building strategic relationships, and executing targeted sales strategies. The individual also maintains direct accountability for the Industry Partner pipeline, ensuring effective coordination, progress tracking, and communication to support alignment and business success across North America.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Engages with current customers through a consultative selling approach to expand existing business, identify new prospects, and promote West's products and services.
Acquires new business by proactively prospecting, qualifying, and converting leads into successful sales opportunities.
Leads cross-functional teams within a matrixed organization to deliver comprehensive business solutions that drive long-term growth with new and existing customers.
Uncovers customer opportunities by leveraging strong listening and discovery skills to understand drug development pipelines and provide tailored solutions that meet specific needs.
Identifies partnership opportunities that align customer goals with West's long-term strategic objectives, gaining alignment on mutually beneficial deal structures.
Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal teams and external stakeholders; projects a confident, trustworthy image while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
Builds and strengthens strategic partnerships with key decision-makers, taking prompt and decisive action to resolve challenges and ensure customer satisfaction.
Maintains an understanding of market dynamics, competitive activity, technology advances, and regulatory trends to enhance customer value and market engagement.
Develops and executes strategic account plans to advance key initiatives, maximize account potential, and support sustainable growth.
Performs administrative responsibilities including demand planning, pipeline management, and CRM updates to ensure accurate forecasting and effective sales tracking.
Adheres to all applicable regulations, company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Performs additional responsibilities as assigned to support team and organizational goals.
Education
Bachelor's Degree In relevant scientific, engineering, or business fields or equivalent experience required
Work Experience
Minimum 5 years Work experience in a business to business environment ideally in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology or related field required
Experience in tangentially related fields of interest, including Big Pharma, biotech, and industry preferred
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong written and verbal communication in English; excellent Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word skills as communication tools
Commitment to leading, supporting, and working in diverse teams
Able to speak in public, both internally (within the corporate environment) and externally (with customers or industry groups, or at relevant events)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy in a fast paced environment
Able to operate with significant autonomy; self-starter and a decision maker
Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
Able to comply with the company's safety and quality policies at all times
Travel Requirements
30%: Up to 78 business days per year
Physical Requirements
Sedentary-Exerting up to 10lbs/4kgs of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Additional Requirements
Able to routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, docking station, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
Must be able to communicate effectively with written and oral skills, make quick decisions, interpret data, read and write, speak in front of groups, express and exchange ideas, understand direction and adhere to procedures
Physically able to travel by all common modes of transportation, including air, train, automobile, and bus
Able to perform well in high-stress, time-sensitive work environment, including scrutiny by executive-level management
Maintain the ability to work well with others in a variety of situations
Able to multi-task, work under time constraints, problem solve, and prioritize
