Summary The United States Attorney's Office (USAO), Southern District of Florida (SDFL) is seeking an experienced attorney to handle litigation in Bankruptcy Courts in the Southern District of Florida. Responsibilities If selected, you will be working with a team consisting of another full time Bankruptcy AUSA and two full time Bankruptcy paralegals to practice before all federal bankruptcy courts in this District. The cases you will handle consist of creditor side bankruptcy representation of other federal agencies, such as the Internal Revenue Service, the Small Business Administration and the Department of Education, in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 proceedings under the United States Bankruptcy Code, and related adversary proceedings. You will be assigned cases to litigate from inception to completion as the sole attorney representing those federal agencies in bankruptcy court, to preserve said agencies' claims to payment from the bankruptcy estate. Your responsibilities will increase and become more complex as your training and experience progress. Position Requirements: Applicants must possess excellent academic and professional credentials, superior oral and written communication abilities, outstanding legal research and analytical skills, and have a J.D. from an accredited law school. A minimum of two years of creditor side bankruptcy experience or two years post law school clerkship experience with a federal Bankruptcy Judge (or combination thereof) is required. Applicants must be an active member of a state bar in good standing. Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district-specific information. See www.sss.gov. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least 1 year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. United States citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications: You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement. Education Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree. Additional Information Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $120,086 to $195,100 which includes which includes 24.67% locality pay.
