About the Position:
The Respiratory Therapist (RT) assesses, treats, and cares for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders across all age groups. Working as part of the interdisciplinary team and under the direction of medical staff, the RT provides diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care in the Medical/Surgical Unit, Intensive Care Unit, and Emergency Department. The RT also collaborates with the Radiology and Cardiac Rehab Departments to assist with stress testing and cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation. The RT must interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff while maintaining high standards of respiratory therapy practice and patient safety. The role requires proficiency in the use of respiratory care and cardiopulmonary diagnostic equipment, including adult and pediatric ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP devices, oxygen delivery systems, electrocardiograms, Holter/Event monitoring, arterial blood gas interpretation, overnight oximetry, and pulmonary function testing (PFT).
What we are looking for:
Graduate of an accredited two- or four-year Respiratory Care Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), required for state licensure.
Demonstrated clinical or fieldwork experience showing competency in entry-level respiratory therapy skills across multiple patient populations (newborn through geriatric).
Experience in acute care, critical care, or emergency department settings preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) must obtain *RRT credentials within one year of hire.
Minnesota Board of Medical Practice license (current and active).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications within 6 months of hire.
