This position requires an employee to be onsite at 3200 Labore Rd, Ste 104, Vadnais Heights, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.

The DCT Infection Preventionist position exists to provide highly specialized work to ensure timely and appropriate management of infection control issues and has the authority to institute measures in responses to emergent infection control issues. This position brings expertise and leadership to develop risk reduction measures to prevent the transmission of infections between patients, visitors, and staff of the programs served. The Infection Preventionist develops and oversees infection control training and training materials for the education of staff in important infection control topics and routine infection control practices to prevent transmission of infectious diseases and ensure a sanitary environment.
The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the development and oversight of facility infection control programs that are specific to individual facilities and the populations they serve. The Infection Preventionist ensures that infection control programs, and their implementation, adhere to infection control practice standards, including those identified in Minnesota Statute, The Joint Commission (TJC), MN Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MNOSHA), Center for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Disease Control (CDC), Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), and any other regulatory authorities providing oversight and input to programs.
Duties:
To prevent common cause healthcare-associated infection within the facility; the employee applies principles of infection control using the epidemiologic approach consisting of surveillance, data collection and trend identification to prevent and contain hospital and community associated infections.Conduct ongoing surveillance activities when indicated.Plan, implement and direct the Infection Prevention and Control Program specific to the setting and the population served with the goal of prevention and control of healthcare related infectious and communicable disease.
Minimum Qualifications
Registered Nurse License in the State of Minnesota
Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Three years of psychiatric nursing experience.
Advanced knowledge and ability to provide education to adult learners.
Demonstrate good leadership skills necessary in critical thinking, independent judgment, initiative, and autonomy.
Advanced skills and abilities in assessment and implementation of nursing actions to effectively teach others.
Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
Infection control and prevention experience and knowledge of the epidemiology of infectious disease is desirable.
Possess a working knowledge of public health systems, the treatment of mental illness, Joint Commission Accreditation Standards, federal and state rules and regulations and performance improvement study methods.
Experience with relevant accreditation and survey processes; understand standards and state and federal rules and regulations as applicable to healthcare service delivery organizations.
Masters Degree in Nursing Education, Education, Nursing, or other related field.
