Classification: Public Health Nurse- Registered Nurse
AFSCME Position, Non-exempt

General Summary: A licensed registered nurse working to assist the public and serve their needs in the areas of
Reproductive Health, Communicable Disease, Immunizations, Children's Special Health Care, Women, Infants &
Children (WIC), and other Health Department services. Reports to Nurse Director and public health practice is
under Medical Director.
Duties:
Providing skilled nursing care to individuals/families with their needs in office, via tele-health,
occasionally in home and off-site.
Complete and maintain accurate, adequate, timely and secured records in computer software products
such as Microsoft Office, Electronic Medical Records software, and similar products.
Meets Accreditation standards of all public health programs, and works on a multi-disciplinary team.
Utilize effective communication and conflict resolution skills to serve clientele in a tactful, objective, and
respectful manner while maintaining privacy and HIPAA compliance.
Ability to respond to emergent public health threats such as Avian influenza, outbreaks, and natural
disaster.
Requirements:
Current license to practice as a registered nurse in Michigan.
Ability to provide services to vulnerable populations in a culturally competent and non-judgmental manner.
Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation.
Excellent communication & organizational skills.
Fluent in English. Additional languages beneficial.
Salary: $25.46 per hour starting wage, increasing to $26.93 upon successful probation period in accordance with
current Union contract plus full benefit package.
$26.25 per hour starting wage, increasing to $27.67 for Bachelor prepared RN.
