General Summary
The ADA Accommodations Coordinatorserves as a strategic business partner in building and strengthening the organization's human resources department in achieving its mission. This role will provide the full scope of human resources generalist services, with an emphasis on the EEO investigative process, responding to ADA -related concerns and reasonable accommodations requests.
Essential Functions
Investigates, gathers, and analyzes information to ensure that employment actions comply with established policies, operating procedures, human resource laws, and the collective bargaining agreement, including ADA standards and regulations
Processes legal accommodations requests (including medical and religious) and resolves complaints related to access and engages in the interactive process. This may include the management of a third-party vendor that receives accommodation requests
Provides training and technical assistance to all employees or applicants on best practices and legal obligations regarding accommodations compliance
Develops, implements and manages reasonable accommodation plans tailored to applicants' individual needs
Ensures timely and appropriate delivery of accommodations
Maintains and ensures the maintenance of accurate records of accommodation requests, determinations and outcomes
Gathers information and analyzes complaints of discrimination, harassment and retaliation to determine whether a violation of regulations, standard procedures or policy occurred
Provides human resources policy guidance and interpretation on matters such as accommodation requests and EEO -related issues; develops and reviews policies and procedures to facilitate and ensure accessibility and inclusion
Maintains awareness of relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Other Functions
Designs and facilitates management studies and other special projects
In conjunction with Department leadership, develops business project mapping, decision analysis, workload measurement and job design
In conjunction with Department leadership and the Human Resources Office, develops and implements a strategic workforce plan
Performs employee relations/labor relations or EEO activities at off-site facilities as needed
Performs other related duties as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Working knowledge of human resources policies, practices and tools and demonstrated knowledge of pertinent employment laws and regulations
Demonstrated experience implementing organizational best practices and fostering a customer service culture
Working knowledge of project management
Demonstrated ability in strategic thinking, internal consulting, conflict resolution, communication at all organizational levels, negotiation and mediation, and managing change
Progressive administrative experience with a strong emphasis on accessibility, including experience working with disabled individuals and developing compliance programs
Deep understanding of the ADA and other laws related to disability rights, such as section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, as well as other employment laws required to effectively manage accommodations programs
Knowledge of local and national disability advocacy groups and the ability to coordinate with various agencies and departments
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Ability to build relationships and partner across functional and organizational lines
Ability to make independent decisions, solve problems and implement those decisions
Ability to exercise sound judgment
Ability to use standard office automation software
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree and 6+ years experience in human resources that includes professional responsibility in multiple program areas such as talent management, employee relations, labor relations, EEO investigations and/or compliance management of accommodations related matters
OR
High School diploma (or equivalent) and10+ years experience in human resources that includes professional responsibility in multiple program areas such as talent management, employee relations, labor relations, EEO investigations and/or compliance management of accommodations related matters
Additional Requirements
Possession of a valid driver's license with no more than 4 points and the ability to obtain and maintain a WSSC Water driver's permit within 90 days or hire or transfer
Completion of the WSSC Water Financial Disclosure statement within 30 days of employment and annually thereafter
Preferences
Certification as PHR , SPHR , SHRM -CP, or SHRM - SCP
ADA Coordinator Training certification
Master's degree
Prior experience reviewing medical documentation, knowledge of common disabilities, and/or collaboration with medical or occupational health professionals
Prior experience working in a strategic business partner model
Prior experience handling employee/labor relations matters
Prior experience handling EEO investigations
Prior experience working in equity and inclusion programming
Prior experience in a unionized setting
Prior experience leveraging HRMS systems such as Oracle, SAP , PeopleSoft
Salary$96,038 - $163,523
