Click here to see an inside look at the Revenue Estimating Division.About the Division:The Revenue Estimating Division helps carry out the constitutional duties of the Comptrollerand#8217;s office related to the budget and revenue estimates. The division is the agencyand#8217;s source for economic data and forecasts. Its responsibilities include producing the Biennial Revenue Estimate, which provides the basis for the state budget written by Texas lawmakers and the subsequent Certification Revenue Estimate.Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional evening, weekend hours and holidays. Hours may change based on business need.
Qualifications: Minimum QualificationsEducation:Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration or a related field is required.Experience:Five years of experience in programs related to agency functions, including management of fiscal note process, publication coordination, budget preparation work and human resource administration.Preferred Experience:Experience with state agency performing office management, budget preparation work and human resource administration.
Experience using a computer with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and an electronic mail system; entering and maintaining database files; creating and updating spreadsheets; using a multi-line phone system; and processing correspondence for mail and overnight delivery.Substitutions:One additional year of office management, budget preparation work and human resource administration experience may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).Licenses and Certifications:A valid Texas (or state of residency) driver's license, current proof of automobile insurance and a satisfactory driving record are a condition of employmentSummary Of Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Marginal or corrected visual and auditory requirements are required for reading printed materials.In this role:You will be performing highly advanced (senior-level) consultative and technical assistance work in the Revenue Estimating Division. Work involves planning, developing and implementing agency programs, including the coordination of agency fiscal notes. Work also involves overseeing operations of the division, including accounting, budgeting, purchasing, receiving, property management, training and human resources. May train, lead, assign and/or prioritize the work of others. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.Duties include:Coordinating agency fiscal notes. Work involves maintaining, with the assistance of the agencyand#8217;s information technology staff, the agencyand#8217;s fiscal note tracking system; overseeing the flow of fiscal notes across divisions and other agencies; proofing and editing fiscal notes; and working with the Legislative Budget Board to ensure fiscal notes are published in accordance with legislative deadlines.
Planning and directing some division operations, including accounting, budgeting, purchasing, receiving, property management and training. Plans and prepares administrative reports, correspondence, and other written documents. Coordinates with the Communications and Information Services division the publication of reports produced by Revenue Estimating.
Developing, reviewing, and communicating some division policies and procedures. Overseeing assignments, programs and other matters within the division. Communicating agency objectives, tasks and decisions in coordination with the division assistant director and director.
Preparing special reports; prepares, assigns and coordinates division correspondence and routing.
Performing other related duties as assigned.Have knowledge of:Public administration and management techniques.
