About the role
The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician plays a key role in maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable operation of power plant systems. The position involves performing maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a wide range of electrical and instrumentation equipment associated with energy-from-waste boilers, air pollution control systems, and turbine generators. The E&I Technician works to ensure all systems operate within compliance and safety standards while supporting plant reliability and performance.
Core Responsibilities
Perform maintenance and testing of low and medium voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, motor starters, and power transformers.
Maintain higher voltage switchyard equipment and steam turbine-driven generators.
Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy-from-waste boilers, including pumps, fans, motors, conveyors, and refuse cranes.
Perform electrical maintenance work related to energy-from-waste air pollution control systems.
Familiar with troubleshooting, assessing, inspecting, adjusting, and repair of Vacuum pumps and related components for environmental monitoring systems.
Familiar with troubleshooting, assessing, inspecting, adjustment, and repair Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and historian devices consisting of Digital I/O, relays and PLC components
Familiar with troubleshooting and repair of relays and familiar with ladder logic.
Conduct preventive maintenance activities such as equipment calibration, thermography, and ultrasonic testing.
Operate calibration equipment and perform electrical and instrumentation repairs using proper Reworld safety practices.
Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation problems and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
Participate in plant shutdown activities including teardown inspections of electrical plant equipment.
Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment in a clean, orderly condition while performing general housekeeping duties.
Complete Reworld safety, compliance, and training certifications within assigned timelines.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Electrical and Instrumentation management team.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Formal technical or apprenticeship training preferred.
Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
Ability to perform all duties while upholding Reworld's values of safety, inclusivity, trust, and continuous improvement.
Must be able to work overtime on a rotating on-call schedule to support plant
operations as needed including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands
Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb as required.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Must qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
Ability to work in various weather conditions year-round.
