About Richmond State Hospital :
Richmond State Hospital is about the people we serve and the community relationships we have developed dating back to 1890. Richmond State Hospital is a public behavioral health facility operated by the state of Indiana and one of six state psychiatric hospitals within the Family and Social Services Administration Division of Mental Health and Addiction. As part of a newly integrated system of state psychiatric hospitals, we serve consumers across the state as the Eastern Center of Excellence in Mental Health and Addiction Services.
Nestled in northwestern Richmond, our beautiful campus provides a quiet and peaceful environment. Richmond State Hospital offers individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, chaplain services, family therapy and education, group psych-education, rehabilitation therapies, and patient employment opportunities. Unit-based programming is augmented with campus-wide specialty groups. RSH has been a state leader in evidence-based medication prescribing to both reduce the risks associated with polypharmacy and optimize clinical outcomes. The hospital clinical and medical leadership collaborate with the unit treatment teams to provide the most contemporary and comprehensive care possible.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $56,316.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Create and monitor the strategic plans of the rehabilitation department.
Direct the planning of all rehabilitation services and treatment plans for all patients.
Direct, review, and distribute departmental records, national statistics, and reports.
Serve as a resource for the hospital and community on rehabilitation and recovery.
Coordinate with Directors on patient groups, scheduling and population of groups, and publication and posting of these activities.
Responsible for ensuring all employees are current on individual license requirements.
Lead academic education activities, act as the hospital liaison to colleges and universities for academic programs and perform oversight of all rehabilitation students and volunteer in the department.
Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.? Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or a related area.
Three (3) years of experience in delivery of rehabilitation services to special developmentally disabled, emotionally disturbed, or substance abusers in a clinic, community, or hospital setting.
One (1) year of the required experience must be in an administrative, leadership, managerial/supervisory capacity.
Thorough knowledge of and expertise in the theory, principles, practices and techniques of rehabilitation services and their application to individual and group activities especially related to inpatient services.
Extensive knowledge and education of the causes, symptoms, and treatment of mental and physical disorders and how these can be addressed through rehabilitation services.
Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and statutes related to accreditation and certification of rehabilitation professionals and of the related standards (e.g., Joint Commission) regulating the provision of rehabilitation services.
Working knowledge of various other mental health professions such as psychology, social work, nursing, and psychiatry that provides the ability to integrate these disciplines into active treatment and appropriate rehabilitation and treatment plans.
Effective communication skills.
Extensive experience in working in an inpatient facility, supervising staff, and program areas.
Knowledge and experience in the recovery model of treatment for persons with mental illness.
Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
Ability to effectively give feedback, provide guidance or corrective action, coach, and develop employee skillsets.
Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
