BIOLOGIST 1-3 - WILDLIFE HABITAT STEWARDSHIP - FARM BILL
LDWF is seeking to hire a Biologist to work directly with Louisiana landowners to implement practices to improve wildlife habitat through the Federal Farm Bill. The incumbent will work closely with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) within United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) Service Centers statewide. The office location will be determined upon selection of candidate. The incumbent will be LDWF Biologist/Forester working as part of a cooperative agreement between LDWF and NRCS. The duties of this position include outreach, delivery of technical assistance, and assistance with program sign up, conservation planning, implementation assistance, contract management and check outs.

A bachelor's degree in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries, animal science, forestry, or natural resources.

Job Duties and Other Information
JOB DUTIES:
Some of the essential duties of this position include:
Work with private landowners to assist them in successful implementation of habitat projects.
Remain engaged throughout the implementation process to facilitate landowner success.
Work to integrate, as a partner, into an established workgroup of another agency.
Coordinate and support outreach events promoting conservation work and deliver presentations.
Develop a working knowledge of local business models and how they apply to conservation delivery.
Remain engaged with conservation projects throughout planning, contracting, and implementation and check out processes.
Track progress and provide updates to LDWF staff and conservation partners.
POSITION SPECIFIC DETAILS:
Appointment Type: Job appointment, probational appointment, promotional, or detail to special duty.
If filled as a job appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available. Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected.
Location: This position may be domiciled statewide and will be determined upon selection of candidate. Potential domiciles include Oberlin and Natchitoches.
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Biologist 1, 2, or 3.
