Responsibilities You will serve as the Information Technology (IT) Project Manager providing oversight and on-site Subject Matter Expert (SME) technical support of NAVWAR C4ISR installations on afloat platforms. You will apply a wide range of technical engineering methods, principles, requirements, work techniques, and practices in an area of IT installation specialization. You will provide onsite expert level technical support to existing equipment, installation and conversion of new equipment, and logistical support to the Local Navy Authority and prime government contractors. You will participate and lead the development of designs, plans, and solutions to ensure viable options are proposed for equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and maintenance. You will perform IT installation, operation, and testing duties; employ unique and specially designed precision tools and instruments. You will install one-of-a-kind equipment, custom equipment, developmental equipment, or equipment which is continually being modified and adapted and does not usually have adequate documentation. You will develop and provide technical input to plans and solutions for IT system installation, integration and interoperability, risk management and mitigation, work estimates, and work schedules. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: proven ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate complex integrated network-centric system installations, and strong capability to oversee and manage project costs, schedules, and performance. Additionally, your resume must demonstrate each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
