Provo City is looking for a full-time Special Events and Marketing Coordinator to provide professional work responsible for planning, organizing, advertising, and implementing Special Events. This position will develop and implement marketing strategies for the Provo Recreation Center and Special Events. This will require them to assist with marketing of programs, events, and services, boosting community engagement and brand presence online and offline as well as design and run special event programming for the recreational enjoyment of the community. What is the compensation?
Pay Rate: (G24, G25, G27) $23.09 - $36.86 per hour (depending on experience)

What will I do?
Coordinate a wide range of community and in house events for the Provo Recreation Center and Provo City (including employee events and functions), such as the New Year's Countdown, Pioneer Day Celebration, Halloween Carnival, Women's Day, Movies in the Park, and a wide variety of other events.
Develop registration forms, policies, and practices in collaboration with operations staff.
Set dates, times, rules, and prices for community events and programs, as appropriate.
Coordinate sponsorships with local businesses.
Respond to citizens' needs, requests, and complaints.
Coordinate with Purchasing Office to bid and order supplies and purchase program-specific materials in accordance with established budgets.
Track expenses and assist in preparing budget and making recommendations for programs and for materials not covered under existing budgets.
Coordinate photos, videos, and social media reels for events and programs.
Post event notices and updates across platforms including sharing event details with partners and posting updates to local resources.
Create digital, print, and graphic materials aligned with brand guidelines, ensuring consistency across all platforms.
Develop and execute creative marketing campaigns to highlight programs and services.
Manage and schedule social media content, track performance, and provide insights for improvement.
Supervise part-time employees and volunteers working on events and programs.
Assist in the recruitment, evaluation, and training of staff and volunteers.
Evaluate assigned programs and provide informational feedback regarding participation level and program effectiveness compared to program costs.
Find solutions and solve problems to improve the Recreation Division.
Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) workdays, and an extended number of days.
Assist other staff members and the public as needed and perform other related duties as required.
What are the minimum requirements?
Provo City will honor equivalent combinations of job-related education and experience.
At All Levels:
Event coordination/planning experience desired.
1+ years of social media marketing preferred.

A bachelor's degree in a related field and a valid, lawful driver license are required.

The above and 1 year of experience in recreational program management.

NRPA Parks and Recreation Professional Certificate.
What is the selection process?
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on November 19, 2025. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
