Job Description:
The Iowa State University Athletics Department is seeking a passionate and collaborative Mental Health Clinical Therapist to join our dedicated Sports Medicine team in supporting the holistic well-being of student-athletes. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to provide in-person, on-site mental health care-including individual and group counseling, crisis support, case management, and outreach programming-within a department that values the unique experiences of student-athletes and is committed to their growth, development, and overall mental wellness. No two days are the same.
What you'll do:
Provide clinical services such as assessment, treatment planning, individual, team, and group counseling services, psychoeducation, and case management.
Conduct psychological, substance abuse, and eating disorder assessments and treatments.
Make appropriate referrals to other professionals and community resources as appropriate.
Write progress reports and complete required documentation as required by Iowa law.
Participate in recruiting visits for assigned prospects to talk about ISU mental health and wellness services.
Research and develop educational materials and prevention presentations.
Provide crisis intervention.
Commit to adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, Big 12 Conference, and NCAA.
The successful candidates will have compassion and possess strong case management, counseling, communication, and problem-solving skills. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. This position requires working on-sight and the ability to meet with students during evenings or weekends, and in crisis situations as needed.
Licensure through the Iowa Department of Public Health must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.
