WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE?

Project Financial Management

Serves as the financial backbone for active construction projects bridging field operations, project management, and corporate accounting to ensure that every dollar of cost, billing and revenue is tracked accurately from initiation to close-out.

Own job-cost reporting for assigned projects, ensuring costs, commitments, and revenue are captured in real time.

Partner with project managers to review budget-to-actual performance and cost forecasts.

Prepare monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and revenue recognition support in accordance with GAAP.

Validate change orders, subcontractor invoices, and project accruals.

Translate project schedules and field progress (from Site Tracker or equivalent tools) into accurate cost-to-complete forecasts and WIP updates.

Billing & Cash Flow

Own billing and receivables of assigned projects, coordinating closely with project managers and clients to ensure accuracy and timeliness

Support billing team with milestone invoicing, retention tracking, and customer documentation.

Verify billing data by checking for errors and making necessary corrections

Coordinate with AP to align vendor invoices to project budgets and PO structure.

Investigate and resolve billing disputes by communicating with customers directly or working with other departments to gather information and find solutions.

Monitor collections status and flag potential issues early to management.

Reporting & Systems

Assist in integrating Sitetracker(project management) and Acumatica(ERP) data for project reporting.

Generate dashboards summarizing cost, revenue, and margin trends by project.

Contribute to process improvements that strengthen job-cost accuracy and data integrity.

Participate in system enhancement projects and help streamline workflows between field reporting and accounting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

3 - 5 years of experience in a construction, telecom, utilities or project-based environment, including 2 3 years of project administration

Experience with Acumatica ERP and/or Sitetracker strongly preferred. Familiarity with other ERPs (Viewpoint, Sage, Dynamics) a plus.

Prior project accounting experience strongly preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Advanced Excel proficiency and comfort with data analysis. Understanding of how to structure data. Strong command of Pivot tables and lookups. Ability to build a financial model. Experience with Power Query and dynamic arrays is a plus.

Comfortable communicating with both field teams and finance leadership; ability to shift between technical and financial language.

Critical thinking, with a strategic approach to problem solving.

Experience with a data modeling/analysis programsuch as Power BI or Tableau.

Invested in project progression and what is driving their financial performance. Motivated to understand why costs vary.
