Performs entry-level transportation related work installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic signs, mailboxes, and delineators in a district. Work includes maintaining inventory and records of signs and materials and using specialized tools and equipment related to sign installation. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and standard practices and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.Essential Duties:District Sign Tech I:Assists transportation maintenance crews with maintenance-related work as required; may respond to assist with emergencysituations/conditionsMeasures and calculates amount of materials neededMixes and places concrete for sign support foundations; moves cement bags and other items related to these dutiesOperates a boom and bucket truck and/or specialized sign truck to install roadway signsPerforms and maintains inventory of signsRepairs and installs signs, supports, foundations and delineators in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic ControlDevices (MUTCD) and other departmental guidance Performs other job responsibilities as assignedDistrict Sign Tech II (in addition to above):Orders signs from the regional sign shopConducts nighttime luminaire inspections to ensure reflectivity of signs, delineators, stripping, and retroreflectivepavement markers (RPMs)Inspects roadways to identify sign and delineator deficiencies and recommend repairsPerforms other job responsibilities as assigned
